Where is the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library?

The Library is in Medora, North Dakota, overlooking the Badlands and Theodore Roosevelt National Park, just minutes from Interstate 94. Whether you’re on a road trip, exploring the park, or making a special journey, you’ll find us easy to reach. Get directions ›
Tip: mobile coverage can be limited in parts of the Badlands, so download your route before you travel.

Where do I park?

Complimentary parking is available on site. As you arrive, take the first roundabout into the main lot beneath the solar canopies. Additional parking is available in the Medora Musical lot during busy periods. Please help us by saving the spaces closest to the entrance for visitors who need accessible parking.

Is there accessible parking or a drop-off area?

Yes. A drop-off area sits right by the main entrance, and eight accessible parking spaces are located close to the door, reserved for vehicles displaying a valid accessible permit or plate. If you don’t require accessible parking, we kindly ask that you use another lot so these spaces stay available for those who need them.

I’m driving an RV, camper, or towing a trailer — where should I park?

Please use the first designated parking area near the Medora Musical rather than continuing into the Library’s main lots. Those lots are sized for standard passenger vehicles and include landscaped areas, rocks, and boulders that make maneuvering larger vehicles difficult. For everyone’s safety and to protect the landscape, park only in designated spaces and don’t drive or park on rock, gravel, or planted areas.

How do I get from the parking area to the entrance?

It’s a short walk from the lots to the Library entrance. For everyone’s safety, please use the designated walkways rather than cutting across drives or landscaped areas. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, the drop-off area and accessible parking are closest to the door.

Are EV charging stations available?

Yes. Electric-vehicle charging stations are available in the visitor parking area for use during your visit. They’re intended for vehicles that are actively charging and work on a first-come, first-served basis — we aren’t able to reserve them or guarantee availability. If they’re occupied when you arrive, check again later; spaces often open up throughout the day.

I have limited mobility. Is help available from the parking area?

We’re committed to making the Library as accessible as possible. If the walk from the parking area may be difficult, we may be able to offer golf-cart transportation, subject to staff and vehicle availability. Please let us know before your visit whenever possible, or speak with our Welcome Team when you arrive and we’ll do our best to help. A shaded seating area is available near the entrance if you’d like to wait comfortably. For more, see our Accessibility FAQ.
