Take in sweeping prairie views from the rooftop terrace, then follow the one-mile boardwalk loop through restored native grasslands, enjoying overlooks and places to pause along the way.

Inside, immersive exhibits trace Theodore Roosevelt's remarkable life while exploring the enduring ideas of leadership, citizenship, and conservation. Galleries blend historic artifacts, multimedia experiences, and moments for reflection, inviting participants to learn with and from Roosevelt—not just about him. Whether exploring the campus, discovering the exhibits, or venturing onto the prairie, every path offers an opportunity to connect with the landscape and ideas that continue to inspire generations.

When Theodore Roosevelt came to North Dakota, he witnessed a dynamic landscape, rich in biodiversity, starting to show signs of ecological change. To honor his conservation legacy, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library launched the Native Plant Project to regenerate a healthy prairie that sustains wildlife, enriches the soil, and fosters human connection with nature. Seeds from more than 200 native plant species have been carefully collected, cultivated, and planted on-site to create a thriving ecosystem for generations to come.

As the prairie matures, it will continue to evolve with the seasons, supporting pollinators, birds, and other native wildlife while creating a landscape that reflects the Badlands Roosevelt knew. The campus itself is part of the experience, encouraging every participant to slow down, observe, and discover the enduring connection between people, place, and the natural world.
