Volunteer

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is built on the belief that participation matters. Theodore Roosevelt didn’t just study leadership, citizenship, and conservation. He lived them. And he invited others to do the same.

Volunteers play an essential role in bringing that spirit to life. By volunteering at the Library, you become part of the experience that welcomes participants, sparks curiosity, and inspires action.

This is not about standing on the sidelines. It is about stepping into the arena.

Why Volunteer with TRPL?

Volunteering at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is an opportunity to be part of something meaningful, from the very beginning.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Help create welcoming, engaging experiences for participants of all ages
  • Share stories that connect Roosevelt’s life to the challenges and opportunities of today
  • Support a place rooted in the Badlands, with a national and global reach
  • Be part of a community that values learning, service, and stewardship

Whether you are passionate about history, education, conservation, or simply connecting with people, there is a role for you here.

What Do Volunteers Do?

Volunteers support many aspects of the Library experience. Roles may include:

  • Greeting and orienting participants as they begin their journey
  • Assisting in galleries and interactive spaces
  • Supporting programs, events, and special experiences
  • Helping participants engage with the landscape and outdoor experiences

All volunteers receive training and ongoing support. You do not need to be a historian. Curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to engage go a long way.
