Getting to Medora & Getting Around
Medora is one of the smallest towns you'll ever see throw a party this big — around 130 people call it home year-round. For Grand Opening week and Medora's America 250 celebration, free shuttles will carry visitors between parking, downtown, and the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. So the smart move is simple: park once, then ride.
Here's how to get here and get around.
- Park free at the Fryburg lot, just off I-94 at Exit 36.
- Ride free — hop the shuttle into Medora and out to the Library.
- Shuttles run June 30 – July 5.
- Every shuttle is ADA accessible, and there's no charge to park or ride.
- One time to remember: the last shuttle leaving Fryburg for Medora departs at 8:00 PM.
Where to Park
If you're driving to the celebration, plan to park at the Fryburg Parking Lot, just off I-94 at Exit 36 (Fryburg Road) — about a 20-minute drive east of Medora. From there, a free shuttle takes you the rest of the way. Just follow the digital signage to the lot.
Why park outside of town? Medora is small, and the streets fill up fast. To keep traffic moving and the celebration relaxed, parking inside Medora is reserved for local residents, business owners, and registered hotel and campground guests (more on that below).
Good to know: The last shuttle leaving Fryburg for Medora departs at 8:00 PM. The lot stays open later so you can catch a return shuttle back to your car after the evening's events.

| Dates | Hours (MT) |

Traffic Plan
In effect June 30 – July 5
With big crowds expected for America's 250th birthday, a temporary traffic plan keeps Medora moving and the roads clear for shuttles and emergency vehicles. A few simple things to know before you go:
Enter at Exit 24.
Everyone heading into Medora should come in at Exit 24. It's the most direct route to parking, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and the weekend's venues — and it keeps the shuttle routes open.
Leave at Exit 27 or 24.
Exit 27 into Medora is reserved for shuttles and emergency vehicles. When it's time to head home, hop back on I-94 here.
Lots full? Park at Exit 36.
About nine miles east of town, Exit 36 has overflow parking with free shuttles running straight into Medora.
Better yet — ride the shuttle.
The free shuttles are the easiest way to get around all weekend. Park once, let someone else do the driving, and skip the hunt for a spot.
The Shuttles
Two free loops keep everyone moving all week.
Yellow Loop — Fryburg Parking Shuttle
This is the one most visitors will use. It connects the Fryburg lot to every stop in Medora, including the Library.
- Runs about every 30 minutes.
- Ride time: roughly 30 minutes into downtown Medora, and about 45 minutes out to the Library — the shuttle makes stops along the way.
- Last departure from Fryburg: 8:00 PM.
Blue Loop — Medora Town Shuttle
A hop-on, hop-off loop running throughout Medora — perfect for anyone already in town and moving between events.
- Runs about every 15 minutes.
- June 30 – July 5, 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM MT.
- Open to everyone — visitors, residents, and guests staying in town.
Where the Shuttles Stop
Both loops serve these stops:
- De Mores School
- Chimney Park (Medora 250 Celebration)
- Family Fun Center Parking Lot
- Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library & Medora Musical
Local Residents, Business Owners & Hotel Guests
If you live in Medora, own a business in town, or are staying at a local hotel or campground, you'll be able to drive into town as usual with the right placard.
- Residents and business owners will receive vehicle hangtags and placards ahead of the celebration. Distribution begins June 22 by direct mail and at designated pickup locations.
- Hotel guests will receive placards from their hotel at check-in. Hotels distribute placards to registered guests staying on property.
More distribution details will be shared before the event.
- It's all free — parking and both shuttle loops.
- Every shuttle is ADA accessible.
- Staff at every stop. Look for our shuttle teams at each stop — they're there to point you in the right direction and answer questions.
- Routes and live updates will be available by QR code and online before the celebration.
- Staying in a local hotel? Look for a one-page shuttle guide at the front desk.
