What the paper covered

Ranching fills the Cow Boy more than anything else, in more than 1,100 events: round-ups, cattle drives, brands and strays. Then come business and building, the railroad and the stage lines, politics, weather, the law and the town's social life. The Marquis de Morès and his enterprises appear in more than 300.

A weekly paper rarely gave full dates, so each event is dated from its wording. "Monday" in a Thursday paper means the Monday before. Items with no date are placed in the week before the issue. Every event links back to the item and the spot on the page it came from.

Try a name, a ranch, a brand or a place. Period spellings vary, so try "ranche" or "round up" too.
