Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Opens in Medora, North Dakota Ahead of July 4th

President Trump traveled to North Dakota Wednesday to help dedicate the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora — a city where Roosevelt spent time ranching in the Badlands as a young man. The dedication comes just ahead of July 4th, in conjunction with America 250 celebrations.

Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, is remembered for his sweeping conservation legacy — protecting approximately 230 million acres of public land, establishing the U.S. Forest Service, creating 18 national monuments, and founding five national parks during his time in office.

Rep. Julie Fedorchak (R-North Dakota) said Roosevelt "really demonstrates what American independence is all about," adding that Roosevelt himself said if it wasn't for his time in North Dakota, he would have never become president.

The new library showcases Roosevelt's life and the lasting work he did that continues to shape America more than a century later. It sits at the edge of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The library opens to the public on July 4th. Opening day is already sold out, but future visits can be reserved online.
