Arrival and Parking

There are 8 ADA accessible parking spaces available within 400 feet of the entrance. 

Parking surfaces are concrete and the mobility access area aisles are wooden cobbles. The pathways are aggregate paving (not loose surface). 

Entrance and Welcome Area

TR Library Building

Our main entrance is fully ADA accessible. 

The entrance features: 

  • Manual doors with push button 
  • Level access, with wooden decking and stone pavers 
  • The main entrance door is 81 inches wide 

Welcome staff are available to provide assistance, distribute mobility devices if needed, and answer questions about navigating the building. 

Mobility Access

Campus Building

The Library is designed to be accessible throughout public spaces. 

Features include: 

  • Wide pathways suitable for wheelchairs and mobility devices 
  • Accessible seating areas throughout the exhibits 
  • Accessible restrooms located off the main lobby in the West building 

  Boardwalk and Rooftop Access 

  • The elevated boardwalk extending into the Badlands and the rooftop viewing areas are fully ADA accessible. 

A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Welcome desk. 

If you require mobility assistance, please speak with a Welcome team member. 

Service Animals

Service animals trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities are welcome throughout the Library. 

Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted. 

Exhibits and Interactive Experiences

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library includes immersive and interactive elements. 

Accessibility features include: 

  • Closed captioning on video content 
  • Audio description where available 
  • Adjustable-height interactive stations where possible 

If you encounter a feature that is not accessible to you, please inform a staff member. We welcome feedback and are committed to continuous improvement. 

Sensory Considerations

Some exhibit spaces may include: 

  • Audio effects 
  • Changing light levels 
  • Multimedia installations 

If you are sensitive to sound or light, please ask a staff member for guidance. We can provide advance notice of areas that may have higher sensory impact. 

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are located at just off the lobby near the main entrance.  

Family or gender-inclusive restrooms are located inside the exhibition gallery.  

Changing tables for children under 24 pounds are available in the family restroom.
