Holiday 2026
The Elkhorn Ranch was Theodore Roosevelt’s home in the Badlands, a cabin on the Little Missouri River north of Medora that took its name from a pair of elk antlers found locked together on the site. Winter on the ranch was a season of making do and making by hand: fires kept going, meat put by, and long evenings filled with work, reading, and company.
Christmas at the Elkhorn brings that spirit to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library this December. Participants can craft ornaments for their own tree, brand a wood or leather keepsake, build a charcuterie board from local goods, and sit down to a dinner celebrating the producers of the Badlands. Nearly everything this season is something to make, taste, or take home.
All programs take place at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora.
