Living Building Challenge: Water | Net-Zero Water Design at the TR Presidential Library
17
views |
Water is one of the most valuable resources in the Badlands.
To meet the Water Petal of the Living Building Challenge, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library must operate as a net-zero water building—capturing, treating, and reusing water entirely on site.
Through advanced water reuse systems, prairie restoration, and green infrastructure, the project restores natural drainage patterns while dramatically reducing water consumption.
By tracking water from source to aquifer, the Library demonstrates how architecture can work with nature instead of against it.
