Gretchen Stenehjem

Gretchen Stenehjem is a Marketing Director at First International Bank & Trust, a Stenehjem family-owned institution with deep roots in North Dakota. She holds a degree in Education from Mankato State University and began her career as a teacher before transitioning into banking, where she helped oversee major construction initiatives. Based in Watford City, North Dakota — just north of Theodore Roosevelt National Park — she spends considerable time in nearby Medora.
Gretchen serves on numerous boards across the state, including the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, Anne Carlsen Center, Sanford Healthcare, Watford City Bancshares, and the Governor’s Heritage Foundation, as well as several local community boards. She is the author of the “Buddy the Dog” children’s book series and contributes regularly to First International Bank & Trust publications. Gretchen and her husband, Steve, are parents to four grown children and grandparents to seven.
