Give Through Your IRA
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA is one of the most powerful and most tax-efficient ways to support the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, available to donors age 70½ and older.
Why an IRA Gift to TRPLF?
If you're 70½ or older, a QCD lets you transfer up to $111,000 directly from your IRA to TRPLF without counting the distribution as taxable income.
- Reduce your taxable income. A QCD is excluded from your adjusted gross income, even if you don't itemize deductions.
- Satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Once you reach RMD age, your QCD counts toward the amount you must withdraw each year.
- Bypass deduction limits. QCDs are not subject to the percentage-of-income limits that apply to other charitable gifts.
How It Works
- Contact your IRA custodian. Instruct them to make a direct transfer from your IRA to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation. Most custodians provide a simple form or letter to request this. You can download a sample letter to send your custodian.
- Funds transfer directly to TRPLF. The distribution must go directly from your IRA custodian to TRPLF to qualify as a QCD. If the funds pass through you first, the tax benefits are lost.
- We acknowledge your gift. TRPLF sends written acknowledgment confirming the QCD, which you'll want for your tax records.
Information for Your IRA Custodian
When initiating your QCD, your custodian will need:

- Tax ID (EIN): 47-1324043
- Mailing address: 401 East Main Ave #201, Bismarck ND 58501-4076
