Living Roof and Rising Galleries | Summer 2025 Progress Update

📍MEDORA, ND — CONSTRUCTION UPDATE | JULY 2025

The vision is taking shape — and the land is coming alive. From May through July, our teams have made extraordinary progress on two core elements of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library: its living roof and immersive galleries.

🌱 A Roof That Grows the Mission
Over 130,000 native plants have now been rooted across the Library’s expansive green roof. More than a feat of sustainable architecture, this living prairie is a vital step in restoring biodiversity to land once overgrazed. Sourced locally and cultivated through partnerships with North Dakota State University, this carefully curated plant palette supports pollinators, birds, and small mammals — just as TR would’ve wanted. It’s a living expression of the “Roosevelt Standard” of conservation and the first presidential library to actively restore native prairie habitat .

🏛️ Walls That Will Hold Stories
Inside, the walls of the Narrative and Adventure Galleries are rising — soon to become the backbone of an experience that invites visitors to step into Theodore Roosevelt’s world. From the Parlor to the Battle of Kettle Hill, from the Elkhorn Ranch to the Amazon, each space is taking shape to engage the head, hands, and heart of every guest . Behind the scenes, our exhibit fabricators and media teams are layering in tactile storytelling, AI-driven interactions, and immersive media rooted in Roosevelt’s own values of courage, curiosity, and civic duty.

🌾 This is not just construction. It’s transformation.
Stay tuned as we continue to build the Library — and the legacy — that Roosevelt’s life and ideals call us to steward.
